He went on his way through towns and villages, teaching and journeying toward Jerusalem. And someone said to him, “Lord, will those who are saved be few?” And he said to them, “Strive to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.“
Luke 13:22-24 (ESV)
This is the season of catalogs. They come in every size and shape. Some are personalized with our names on them. They are invitations to come and shop. They are filled with beautiful, interesting, and appealing products. Everyone is invited to purchase, but not everyone will respond.
The invitation of the Gospel is sent to everyone in the name of Jesus. This is why Jesus went through as many towns and villages as possible while He was on earth. He message was clear.
“Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” Luke 13:5 (ESV)
Everyone is invited, but Jesus said many will reject His invitation. This is why the door is narrow and many will not be able to enter.
