A Sure Formula for A Victorious Day

The war horse is a vain hope for victory, and by its great might it cannot save. Psalm 33:17

Our Lord has all we need to live victoriously today. He does not expect us to go into life armed for the battle with any other weapon than God Himself. He wants us to see victory, so He has given us salvation in His Son Jesus Christ. He has given us the abiding of the Holy Spirit. He has given us His Word. Consider these weapons from heaven. Is there, will there ever be, could there ever be any earthly force that compares with these?

So, today, leave at home those “war horses” that we who are human often carry into life to assail those around us. Leave your thoughts and plans of vengeance. Leave your determination to have it your way. Leave your desire to be in control. Leave your angry words and hateful looks. Leave your destructive behaviors and conquering spirit. Instead, take with you the wonderful conquering gifts of God. Save me, O God, by your name, and vindicate me by your might. Psalm 54:1

Take the weapon of God Himself. He has ordained that all victory will be by His Spirit, not by might or by power. Victory is won as God’s character is lived out through the lives of those who love Him. His love is poured on the forgotten. His joy anoints the sorrowing. His peace mellows the stressed. His goodness cleanses the immoral. His gentleness caresses the rough. His faithfulness secures the would-be wanderer. His patience waits for those who are slow to respond. His self-control restrains the self-indulging.

Take the weapon of salvation. At the name of Jesus even the demons cannot stand. Those who would cause the greatest havoc are impotent in the presence of Jesus Christ, through whom all sin and death have been defeated for all time.

Take the weapon of God’s Word. Scripture in your heart will pull you out of every seemly dangerous situation. God has promised that His Word is powerful and when used will always be effective. God’s Spirit anoints His Word and it is by God’s Spirit that all victory will be won.

Our God knows a battle awaits us in this world and He has not left us defenseless, dependent on “war horses” which have no power to conquer or change. He has armed us with the greatest of weapons and He has promised us the victory that He has already won through Jesus Christ. Go now, armed for the battle. The victory is yours to claim. Have they no knowledge, those evildoers, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon God? There they shall be in great terror, in terror such as has not been. For God will scatter the bones of the ungodly; they will be put to shame, for God has rejected them. Psalm 53:4-5

  1. Leave the house with Holy Truth:

Does that seem to you like a Command of inaction?

  2. Hi, there! I believe it is a command to take action. When we become holy as God is holy, His light exposes the deeds of darkness. Our action is to become holy by rejecting evil. The Apostle Paul said that as we become holy we are light to a darkened world. This is the only hope for our world. Unless God’s light shines into the darkness through our lives, revealing evil to be what it is, people will continue in darkness, never knowing the Truth that brings light and life to every aspect of our lives.
