The Night Watch

Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.  Psalm 33:8

You created the heavens and held the world in place today, and yet You come to me this night. I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. (Psalm 16:7) You never grow weary of bringing the magnificence of who You are to bear on my neediness, even in the night watch.

You take time to surround me with Your presence and show me the right paths for my life, even as I rest from the heaviness of this day. Therefore, my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also rests secure. You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore. (Psalm 16:9,11) I go to sleep knowing that You are able to continue planning my life and guiding my way.

You alone can provide such wisdom. You alone have control of my future hopes. The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; I have a goodly heritage. (Psalm 16:5,6) I rest, knowing my night and my tomorrow is safely in Your hands.
