Creator of All Songs of the Heart

Praise the Lord with the lyre.
Make melody to him with the harp of ten strings.
Psalm 33:2

Lord God, Creator of all songs of the heart, and Master of the early hours of this day, continue to perfect the melody of my life.  I rejoice in the abundance of your provision for life and fulfillment. You are the giver of personality, skill, experience, status, vocation, family, and purpose. You take every diverse and complex part of me and create a masterpiece for Your glory. You hear lyrics for my life that only a Creator God has ears to discern. Your expectations are greater than this world can offer and only as Your hand is given freedom to bring the strings of my life alive can I know the heavenly melody my life can sing.

Show me how to praise you with the entirety of my being. Release me from my limited understanding of the worship You are waiting to receive from me. What is the lyre of my life? How do I make a melody to You on the harp of ten strings? Is it the smile that you have given me that gives joy to those around me? Is it my faithfulness to the choir rehearsals at my church? Is it the honor of bowing my head in thankfulness over a meal? Is it reading a story of Jesus to my grandchild? Is it to walk with You from the secure to take Your love to a distant frontier? Loose me from whatever bounds I have made for myself that keep me from the spontaneous as well as intentional praise of You, O Lord!

Heavenly Father, what I may face this day that would keep me from Your praise I do not know. Keep Your hand upon the harp strings of my being that my melody of praise fall not flat or raise in sharpness, becoming a harsh noise in Your presence. Be pleased, O God, to deliver me. O Lord, make haste to help me! Let those be put to shame and confusion who seek my life. Psalm 70:1-2
