One Thing I Know

For the word of the Lord is upright,
And all his work is done in faithfulness.
He loves righteousness and justice;
The earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.
Psalm 33:4-5

Today is a beginning, Father, a beginning again to trust in Your Word, to experience Your faithfulness, to live Your righteousness, and to bring Your justice in the world where You have placed me. I have but a small portion of understanding of who You are. I have little comprehension of Your faithfulness that has not changed toward Your creation through an eternity. I can hardly consider Your righteousness through my sin-warped lens. I scarcely grasp the complexities of life that need Your justice.

Today I enter life as a seeker, as a learner, as a disciple, needing to be shown the way, to be excited to Your presence and work around me, and to be proded by Your Spirit to make the wise and right choices. Energize me with spiritual hunger to live according to those things that I learn. Draw me deeper into Your Word.

One thing I know, Your Word and Your work are acts of love, revealing love, affirming love, assuring love, teaching love. Your Word is full of love, overflowing into the lives of those who trust. Your work is love acted out in full, for all to know love that is seen in faithfulness. Let the character I see in You be the character others see in me. May Your steadfast love strengthen me to love in the places where You have sent me.

My Jerusalem is my family and in this place, teach me of Your faithfulness and righteousness, and show me how to live by Your justice.

My Judea is my community and in this place, I ask to live faithfully to those who trust me, to choose righteousness, and to act with justice.

My Samaria is the needs of the poor, the sick, the forgotten, the stranger, and in this place, I ask to understand how I can be faithful, how I can mold my mind to righteous thought, and how I can honestly desire that all persons experience true justice.

I will experience the farthest reaches of the world today when I go with You into my nation and around the world to share Your faithfulness, righteousness, and justice.

In each of these places, I seek Your heart and vision for the blessings and the opportunities that You have already determined for my day.
